Mining and refinement are fundamental economic activities in Structs. This guide explains how to extract Alpha Ore from planets and refine it into Alpha Matter. Understanding this process is essential for growing your power.
Quick Start
The Process:
- Explore a planet (currently, all planets are identical)
- Build an Extractor struct
- Mine Alpha Ore
- Build an Ore Refinery struct
- Refine Alpha Ore to Alpha Matter

Critical Security Note: Alpha Ore stored on planets can be stolen by other players during Raids. Always refine ore to Alpha Matter as soon as possible to secure your resources.

Mining Alpha Ore
What is Mining?
Mining is the process of extracting Alpha Ore from planets. Each planet contains a finite amount of Alpha Ore that can be extracted using specialized structures.

Requirements
Before you can mine, you need:
- A planet with Alpha Ore deposits (all planets start with 5 grams of ore)
- An Extractor struct built on the planet
- The Extractor must be Online (activated)
- Player must be Online (powered)
How Mining Works
The Mining Process:
- Planet Exploration: Each player begins by exploring a planet. All planets are identical and start with 5 grams of Alpha Ore. Players do not choose between different planets - all planets have the same properties.
- Build Extractor: You must build an Extractor struct on your planet:
- Power Required: 500,000 milliwatts (500w) to build
- Operating Power: 500,000 milliwatts (500w) to run
- Build Difficulty: 700 (proof-of-work required)
- Mining Operations: Each mining operation:
- Extracts 1 gram of Alpha Ore
- Requires proof-of-work (hashing difficulty: 14,000)
- Ore Storage: Mined Alpha Ore is automatically stored on the planet. It's not stored in any particular structure - it's tracked with the planet.
